U.S. Embassy Celebrates Elections ‘08

Muscat--The U.S. Embassy in Muscat hosted an Election Breakfast Open House on the morning of Wednesday, November 5.  More than 300 guests attended, including members of the diplomatic corps, officials, business leaders, academics, and American citizens from across the Sultanate.  They gathered to watch as election returns were announced after the close of polling on the West Coast of the U.S., starting at 7:00 a.m. local time.  One special feature of the event was the attendance of nearly 100 secondary students from five schools in Muscat; Ambassador Gary A. Grappo led a series of discussions on the U.S. electoral process with the students, talking about the development of the American election system and answering questions on the day’s events and how the upcoming transition of administrations will take place.
