The U.S. Embassy Announces The Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program
The Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program provides opportunities for young Omani teachers of English to refine their teaching skills, increase their English language proficiency, and extend their knowledge of the cultures and customs of the United States. Each FLTA Fellow will spend one year at a U.S. university where he/she will teach Arabic while enrolling in at least two U.S. studies or teaching methodology classes each semester.
During the academic year, FLTA Fellows are also invited to participate in special Fulbright workshops and Fulbright Enrichment Seminars.
The program is fully funded by the U.S. Department of State and administered by the Institute of International Education (IIE).
To be eligible, applicants must:
Be between the ages of 21 and 29 at the time of application
Have a TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based), 79-80 (internet-based) or an IELTS score of 6.0
Be an English language teacher or be on training to become an English language teacher (prior teaching experience is preferred)
The deadline for receiving typed, error-free applications is November 4, 2009
